Information

 

The idea is to work on the garbage from the school canteen, find solution to reduce or recycle it. Students will have to make their own garden in town, from recycled items and compost from vegetal garbage. They will have to be creative and make an original garden, working on arts (literature, visual arts).

Aims:

*Awareness and sensitivity to the environment and related issues.

*Knowledge and understanding of the environment and the impact of people on it

*Attitudes and values that reflect feelings of concern for the environment

*Skills involved in identifying, investigating, and problem solving associated with environmental issues

*A sense of responsibility through participation and action as individuals, or members of groups, whānau, or iwi, in addressing environmental issues 

Work process:

•Students will make their own garden in town, from recycled items and compost from vegetal garbage.

•Capacity Building Workshop

•Creation of Environmental Clubs in school

•Production of poster, and manual for teachers and children

•Pedagogical visit to Botanic Garden to learn about preservation and conservation

•Tree and Flower planting exercise in their own school and different schools, communities and public places such as the hospitals, market places etc

•Essay, poetry and arts competition among schools 

Expected results:

•Pupils are able to identify the major environmental problems within their school/ communities and the role they can play as key agents of change

•Providing a platform for the children to express their abilities and creativities
