Project Coordinator

collège Berthelot, LE MANS, France

Our school is located in the centre of Le Mans, a city with a population of about 150000 inhabitants.
Languages are a priority in our school: we teach English, Arabic, German, Italian, Spanish. We have two bilingual year 5 classes. Some students are new immigrants. They  have lessons in French as as second language. There are more than 25 nationalities represented. We have a local radio inside our school where students can work and broadcast their own radio programmes. No efforts are made at school concerning recycling and reusing, we do not recycle paper, we have an important amount of wages from the school canteen.  This project will help the students and adults be aware of the importance of reducing, recycling, reusing and change their habits at school and at home. We have never been involved in a Comenius project and we find it important to insist on the world dimension of environmental issues. What is more, twelve teachers from the school plan to take part in the project. If we want to see things change, we all have to work together.
